Sam Fender has handed over the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound Mercury Prize prize money to the trust for venues, which works to save the Britain's grassroots concert spaces.
Fender was given the prize on 16 October as his new release People Watching was declared the best record of the previous year.
He has chosen to give the cash to the trust, in acknowledgment of the crucial part grassroots venues fulfilled in his early career.
"I personally would not have achieved my current career if it hadn't been for all the performances I did around the area, and beyond, when I was starting out," remarked Fender. "These locations are iconic, but they are in difficulty."
Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these locations have shut down – about one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.
Recently, major artists such as the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the MVT in its efforts to help venues survive, by adding a minor surcharge to their ticket prices, which benefits local stages.
He also took part, generating more than £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to assist thirty-eight grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.
The money helped venues that were dealing with possible closure due to challenges caused by floods, fires and bereavements, as well as permit problems, legal disputes and noise complaints.
Some locations received financial assistance in upgrading infrastructure and gear that positively impacted musicians and audiences.
"The idea that funds from concerts in major spaces helps the independent spots, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has commented.
Fender is among several artists to donate his honor winnings to worthy causes.

"And I donated a grand to my local community centre, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they needed better apparatus," she told outlets.
Two years ago, Ezra Collective gave their funds to the youth organization that nurtured their act, in addition to other local music groups.
Additionally winners that year the group donated their prize to a multiple sclerosis charity after a friend was identified with the illness.
"The victory was sufficient," said artist Small. "The prize was the extra but we didn't need the cherry, because we had the honor. So our victory touched somebody else's life."
Recently, the MVT revealed it had rescued a couple of grassroots venues in south-east England, by transferring them to community ownership.
The Joiners in Southampton and the second in the city were purchased under the public acquisition program, which is supported by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who acquire "stakes" in the properties.
